Entrée Cinema,
together with Cinemateket in Bergen is proud to announce the world premiere of The
Wolf Trail (Winter) by artists Marthe Thorshaug (NO) and Under The Red Flag by Esteban Rivera (CO). This afternoon we are invited to
enter the perspective of the wolf, as well as a hypnotic atmosphere that merges
dreamlike landscapes with those of memories. This duo presentation is part of
the program’s recent focus on the perception of human nature through
architecture, cosmology, relationships, and geographical coincidences. The
newly made productions explore animal and human perspectives, intertwining
fictional storytelling with the landscape of real life. The screening is
followed by a conversation between the two artists moderated by curator Tatiana
Lozano.

A fictional male wolf wanders through the forests of
Sweden and Norway. He is looking for a mate and his own territory. But how will
he get past the humans? And how to cross other wolf packs? At the same time,
mythology creeps into the wolfs everyday life. How to get out of Grandma Red
Riding Hood's bed?
A
consistent theme in Thorshaug's films is the relationship between humans,
animals, and mythology. Through her productions, Thorshaug has developed her
own film language, where tools from different genres are deliberately mixed.
The result is films with an unpredictable mood, where the line between what is
real and what is fiction is blurred. The Wolf Trail (Winter) is a hybrid
film that plays with different genres.
Marthe Thorshaug studied at the National Academy of
Fine Arts in Oslo. Her films have been screened at numerous art institutions, museums,
and film festivals around the world, among others The Phillips Collection
(Washington DC, US), Whitechapel Gallery (London, UK), Momentum Biennale (Moss,
NO). Thorshaug runs her own film production company Nerhagen Productions.
Nerhagen is the name of the little farm where she grew up, and where she lives
and works today.

Esteban Rivera explores the use of images generated by
artificial intelligence, aiming to generate a hypnotic atmosphere that tries to
merge dreamlike landscapes with those of memories. Under The Red Flag questions the value of identity within a particular culture and opens up the possibility
of considering national symbols from a playful, but profound and personal point
of view. Dreamlike
encounters from public spaces in Bergen have made their way into his material.
Esteban Rivera was born in Colombia and currently works
in Berlin. He received a master’s degree in Art and Media from the Universität
der Künste, Berlin (Arts University in Berlin) under Prof. Anna Anders and
Prof. Ai Weiwei. He received a master’s degree in Arts from the National
University of Colombia, where he also studied Graphic Design. His work was
selected for Kasseler Dokfest 2017 and was nominated for the Golden Key. His
work has been exhibited in EEUU, Mexico, Indonesia, Colombia and Germany.
